Hi All
I need to migrate from version 5.0 to version 5.7.3. I presume that in order you get to 5.7.3 I would have to iterate through each version release, if this is the case then I will have to shut the store for much longer than is ideal.
Therefore I would like to start with a fresh install of 5.7.3 and migrate the data. I have seen the BV tool for categories users and products however is there anything for orders? I assume the tool uses the web services in order to carry out its actions. Would it be possible to use a DB data export to transfer the data across or would this cause issues with the PCI compliance?

Well if you go into the sources of BV, you will notice that BV does provide incremental upgrades from any specific dot version in v5. Applying them is not really that painful frankly speaking. I have done that at least 20 times and its really a piece of cake as long as you are talking about the 5.X versions.
Instead of getting the tool and running it to move the data, you can always apply the incremental upgrades to the SQL DB as well. I have noticed that to be much better.
And you are right. The tool does use web services and not all the data is taken care of. I am not sure exactly whats dropped though. |
