Does passord really need to be changed for every edit?

Upgraded to 5.8 recently. Every time I try to edit a profile the system is making me change the password is this a bug? It makes multiple changes very tiresome, and customers don't like having to be notified of new passwords all the time.

Sounds like you missed something in your upgrade. There was a bug in 5.6 or 5.7 in a release that was only available for a few hours that had this problem I suspect you missed something when you merged code. Check the 5.8 original code vs. your running code.

Well, after a couple of weeks Resposio can't find any discrepancies in the code. Is anyone else having this problem? I'm stuck here - what else might the problem be?
