Would be great to see a:
"Yes I want to receive your newsletter" / "Don't send me any mail" checkbox on the checkout.

This is something that may be best customized on a store-by-store basis. A lot of people don't generally recommend using the built-in mailing list system in BVC5, so adding that option to the checkout template modules is just something that most will have to manually remove. |

Hi,
I agree with you about that, but it needn't be an addition/removal to the BVC Mailing List, just a simple flag in the customers record (boolean yes/no) would suffice.
Not sure about in the States, but it's a legal requirement in the UK that if you email your customers, you must give them the option to be able to opt-in/opt-out when they're registering on your site.
