A product page template with tabs for product type properties. Some products need an awful lot of text to get the message across. Makes for a cluttered page. Tabs adds a professional look and allows the product page to be viewed more easily. |

Mitch, this would be great to see as standard OOTB functionality. Just so you know, we have this functionality for BVC5 now. example: http://www.byoguitar.com/Guitar...---ST-Style__BYO-ST.aspx |

Just wondering if the items in this tab are text or product type properties... (drop down or text fill-in style)? MitchA attached the following image(s): guitar tabs - pun intended.jpg (37kb) downloaded 85 time(s).You cannot view/download attachments. Try to login or register. |

The way we built it it can be just about anything in the tabs.
The example is using "Long Description" "Product Properties" and "Additional Images".
You could have short description, long description, related items, additional links, reviews, blog posts etc. It was created as a drop in control but it needs to be configured so we haven't released it as an add-on. |

Put me on the list for a face lift when you get this ready. I'm getting tired of my 'look'. Not all of my products need tabs (not that much info), but some products cluttered up the screen pretty good. Some still do, but mostly because of the long list of choices. I've dumped most info that used to be in 'product types' into the long desc just to segregate attention areas on the screen. http://www.missionfurnis...ne-Cabinet__MAS746S.aspxNot bad, but I'd like to see if I can get this all into a shorter page - less scrolling. |

I created my tabs to be for all the product types. Each product type property is its own tab. It takes the tabe name from the product type property display name and uses the product type property description as the tab's content. I will attach a screen shot of my admin and product to show an example... It just required a few tweaks in the product type control...

Bryan, each property gets it's own tab.... this might be OK if you only have a few properties. Both Noah's and your tab approach might be tough to deal with if you have products with four or more properties (tabs) with only 1 or 2 bullet points per tab. A shopper would have to ask what are all of these damned tabs for?
Importing products with lots of 'tabs' from another cart.... might mean a lot of crunching. Building products from scratch with 2 or 3 tabs in mind... this would be ideal.
I had some products with four or five properties:
General product features Wood/Stain notes Time to ship sizing instructions (link to a custom page) Installation instructions (link to a custom page)
Easily a 3 tab product, but you'd have to change stuff around in type properties to kill the extra 2 tabs. |

You could use image replacement on the tab text and solid margin/padding via css could get you a good amount of tabs on a page without it looking cluttered. |
