I do like the global out of stock message site term as it covers a lot of ground. However, sometimes my clients wish to expand upon why a product is discontinued or backordered. Example being an estimated ship date, a suggestion for a suitable replacement item that is available, or a nice shot at the manufacturer for screwing up...LOL...

BV2004 has the inventory message within the product's admin, BV5 does not. Can this be added back into BV5 as a custom message override option?

i.e. Keep the global site term, text input field in the product's admin labeled as "Custom Out Of Stock Message"

Also, allowing HTML in the custom message would be useful.

It would also be great if the message followed through to the shopping cart, such as expected "End of August", and to their email confirmation.

Hi Matt,

We have a component that uses type properties to display stock status of a product using html.

It has 3 "modes", in stock, out of stock, and low stock. The low stock unfortunately is not currently adjustable on a per product basis is in set globally in the component configuration. The html is displayed in the product template using a asp.net control tag.

It also has "tokens" that can be used in the html to display the actual inventory available of a particular product at a given time.

Samantha,

I had not considered the display message on the inventory throughout the checkout process, however, it may be possible by modifying the checkout templates. I have a couple custom development projects on my plate now but I will look into this for the future. As for including it in the e-mail as well, it would be close to impossible without a core modification as "tokens" used in the e-mail templates are replaced in the core.

I have used [[Product.InventoryStatus]] on the Admin Email to show the stock status. I previously used this on the customer email, but with the messages available In Stock of Out of Stock was confusing for customers ordering the last one of an item or pre-ordering something. If there was a way to change the messages used for [[Product.InventoryStatus]] that would be great.

Any changes related to what is sent in e-mails requires a core modification.
