Hi. I have a client who wants to define unique, flat shipping rates per product:

product X

* Ground $10
* UPS 2ndd day $14
* UPS next day $20

What is the best way to implement this in BVC? I am using 5.4

Thanks,
Marco

Marco,

This will require a fair amount of customization. Alternately you should be able to use Andy Miller's Shipping Rate Rule Providers. It's a great piece of software that's super-flexible and able to handle most shipping scenarios.

Marco,

This might become a nightmare for your customer trying to maintain unique pricing for each of his products! Moreover, what would the approach be if there are multiple products added to the cart each of which has its own shipping rate? Would your client add all of the Shipping Charges? Or would your client ship each of the items separately?
Thanks,
Satya

I think this is clearer when know the other requirement of the customer, which is that they want to be able to ship products in a single order to different locations. In other words they want to have an order such as:

Order 1

Product X, ship to NY, ship cost $10
2 Product Y, Ship to CA , ship cost $20
Product Z, Ship to Moscow, ship cost $30

Are there any modules that allow this kind of behavior? If not, how would I do it?

Thanks!
Marco

Would the shipping locations be specified by the customer?

If so, that's just a Ship To Multiple locations feature.
