Can anyone recommend an alternative to PayPal for small, low-volume transactions? The site is currently using PayPal "Buy Now" and "Donate" buttons so something similarly simple (wow, cool alliteration) would be ideal. |

google checkout?
I use it sparingly for times that my client's need/want to pay me with a card and it's simple. A heckuva processing fee though... |

Thanks, guys. 2Checkout has been around for awhile, but their rates are really high (5.5% + $0.40 transaction fee). I didn't even think about Google Checkout. Duh! That's definitely a good option. |

OK, one more question. We have a client that wants to sell raffle tickets online. This is a violation of the terms & conditions of every payment company I've seen thus far. They lump this under their gambling policy. Any ideas? |

We were joking at the office yesterday that we would "give them a free raffle ticket with every donation of $20". :) Somehow I think the payment processor would catch on... |

Don't know about the US, but down under all raffles, lotteries etc are strictly regulated by state & federal govt. law (they issue permits and licenses for a fee or take a chunk as tax revenue)...

That's true in the US also. Each state has their own separate rules governing raffles/lotteries/etc. The fines against scofflaws can be pretty serious. |

not trying to hijack the thread, but i searched for donation adn this popped up. Has anyone added a "donation for __________" on their site? It seems like a lot of stores are advertising "donation for _____" or "we will donate 1$ for every product purchased". Can anyone think of how to incorporate that will BV at checkout, and what are the legal problems with processing the donation on a cc...

Paypal is very good in my opinion and full trustworthy. Else google's checkout is also a very good finance tool you can look up to. I have tried these two and found them very user friendly. Cannot say about the others.

Paypal is the best payment gateway but if you are looking for an alternative solution then try 2Checkout, Authorize.net or Google Checkout. |

Since I'm in the market to change my payment processor from PayPal, I thought I would see who others are using. What about FattMerchant? Anyone using them? They do use Authorize.net as their gateway, so it should be compatible with BV. Their published rates are $200/mo + $0.12/transaction + interchange.
