I would like to give restricted access to a third party supplier that would allow them to update shipping information on a specific tab or specific view on a tab very similar to 'Guided Access' on a iOS device.

Well the original spirit of the idea was in the event the a call center person could configure a shopping cart on the 'backend' that they would need access. Further automating the integrating with UPS so that shipping, shipping status and links to ship progess are always good.

OK, so this ties into your other post. I think it would be possible to build an 'email cart' function into the frontend without too much trouble and without having to worry about admin security, etc. On the shipping side of things I would need more detail. If you just needed a way for suppliers to communicate tracking numbers, I would probably suggest giving them a password-protected area where they could upload a text file (CSV, tab-delimited, etc) of tracking numbers rather than having them try to learn and use any portion of the admin. |
