1 .When I go to Admin ---> Content ---> Url Redirect and click NEW. Do I need to have a domain name like http://www.XXXXX.com/ in "Requested URL" and "Redirect To URL" field? 2. If I choose the Product under the Type drop down menu, there's a "System Data (bvin):" field, what is that? 3. What would be the difference if I check "Evaluate as Regex?" checkbox? Thank you!

No. You can use a fully-qualified URL in the "Redirect To URL" if you want to redirect to another domain. Originally Posted by: michael_b 2. This is used internally by BVC when you enable the feature to automatically prompt for redirect creation when deleting a product. You can leave it blank if you are manually creating a redirect. This tells BVC to interpret the "Requested URL" string as a regular expression for pattern matching. |

Regarding #1:
What if I don't redirect to another domain (it'll go to same domain but to the new product), should I just keep something like this:
"Requested URL" - /Products/Bell-Mountain-Bicycle-Seat__ABC70.aspx "Redirect To URL" - /Products/black-bike.aspx
Thank you.

I want to redirect from a sub category "Gift Certificates" to the only product in that category "Gift Certificate". I thought I was doing it right but I see nothing redirecting upon clicking the "Gift Certificates" category. Am I doing something wrong (see attached screenshot)? TKatch attached the following image(s): Redirect.gif (13kb) downloaded 4 time(s).You cannot view/download attachments. Try to login or register.

You can't redirect an existing URL. Meaning, if you have a product, category, custom page, or even a static file with that URL you cannot redirect it. You either need to delete the item that you're trying to redirect or alter its URL so that the original URL can be redirected. |
