I want customers to go to our checkout page and if they want to use PayPal -- whether that is paypal account, draft from their checking, credit card, or Paypal buyer credit -- I'm assuming that is "PayPal Payments Standard" -- what I was used to with SF6. Where did "Express" come from?
The difference between 1, 2, and 3 is that they all use different API's and they are implemented differently. The implementor (BV Software in your case) has chosen to implement 3 and 4. Prior to 6.8, SF used 1 (IPN). Starting with 6.8, SF uses 3 and 4. SF never used Standard.
In BVC5, you can choose between: a) no PayPal methods, b) Express only, or c) Pro (which includes Express). Nick posted links to pages that show how to setup Express and Pro.
Express is a new payment method that was released at the same time as Pro. Like Standard, Express performs the entire checkout on PayPal's web site. However, that is the only similarity. They have different API's and they are implemented differently. But that is a moot point since none of the carts we are talking about
have ever implemented Standard.
