Hey all,

I believe that this varies based on your customers, for BV2004 I've had a 50/50 response on the "Bill To Same Address" being checked or unchecked.

On one side, customers have said to my clients, I didn't realize it was using my shipping address so we've made it default to unchecked.

Other sites, we've left it checked and have received no complaints or hit any errant charges.

View attached as this is what I'm doing on the checkout process to clearly draw attention to it. It's red, anyone using the internet responds to red. (well...mostly)

While seemingly small, I think this is major usability point to address as it's the last stop for the customer.

Have any of you merchants out there run into any problems with the bill to box set to checked as the default?

When I change the checked value to false within the page code (checkout.aspx), the billing address does not appear. I assume this is because the anthem panel needs to be activated by the user (i.e. unchecking the box) in order to load the address fields.

Do any of you see value in BV providing the ability to change the default (Check/Unchecked) value via the admin to compensate for the potential confuson?

Do you see value in having the bill to address fields appearing at default, and if the the box is checked, the fields are filled in with the shipping address?

You know I vote yes...LOL....

Matt,

Personally I find that if you don't allow orders to go through that don't have valid payment, then if the shipping doesn't match their billing, most customers "get it" -- that is they are used to having to look for that option.

That said, my preference on sites is for both sets of data fields to be visible when you load the page with a checkbox for the customer to check if the "billing is same as shipping" and then it automatically copies the info over.

I have the same thought with shipping. I have had a few customers try and checkout without clicking the "get shipping rates" button and don't see the message, so they call and say the checkout doesn't work -- but they thought they were getting free shipping! I would prefer for SOMETHING to be already there, even the dreaded "Shipping rate to be determined."
